CB RADIO FOR MINING OPERATIONS
CB radios are an invaluable tool for mining and construction operations with a unique value proposition as a free, open communication medium between all users in a localized area. CB can be installed in vehicles (e.g., tippers, loaders, etc) or placed at a fixed location (e.g., loading/unloading station, dispatch office). It is further important to note that the government of India does not require any license for the purchase and use of CB radios. The typical communication range is 5 to 10 km (equivalent to circular area of 75-150 sq km). This provides significant benefit to the site manager to better conduct mining and construction operations from the point of view of productivity, safety, co-ordination and planning.
The demanding working conditions and hazardous environments in mines and construction sites require reliable communication systems for smooth functioning of the operations and ensuring better safety. CB Radio will provide a proper communication tool to co-ordinate operations, reduce machine down-time and also help in immediate passing of messages from the working area to different stakeholders with a standardized communication platform.
In addition, low coverage for the telephone network, non-symmetric mine topology and complex construction sites structure put further hindrances on the way of communication. CB technology would help fill the communication gaps while increasing productivity.
